No Experts in Web 2.0+

The MENG (Marketing Executives Networking Group) put on a webinar on blogging this afternoon. It provided some very rich and far-flung content on blogging this afternoon.

There were two major impressions from the session:

·      There are no experts in creating an on-line ecosphere, and

·      There are relatively few experts on particular elements in the ecosphere.

The overall discussion was very one-dimensional…about blogging. There was very little discussion about how blogging fits into an overall ecosphere strategy. My impression is that people become focused on relatively narrow applications and the results coming from those applications. Very few people are trying to put different technological pieces together. Even fewer people are trying to include traditional elements in an ecosphere strategy.

The discussion on blogging was insightful, but not particularly complex. Working with a new medium in a one-dimensional environment limits how complex the concepts and discussions can truly be. I have been blogging for just over a month and I could follow the entire conversation.

My message from all of this is that THERE ARE NO EXPERTS!!! Jump into Web 2.0 right now and you can be on the leading edge of the technology with a minimal investment of time and energy. Web 2.0 and the need to manage our own ecosphere will engulf us all. Why not join in when the investment is small and the opportunities large?
